Symonds yat canoeing

Thousands of canoeists navigate the rapids each year along their journey down the River Wye. Symonds Yat is one of the most iconic canoeing destinations in Britain. We offer lots of different Outdoor Adventure Activities like. It is within a few miles of Monmouthshire and the Welsh border.

Upon arrival at our canoe hire centre you will be registere fitted with a buoyancy aid given the correct size paddle,and offered a dry barrel to keep your. You begin near Goodrich Castle pass through Bishopswood and Lower Lydbrook and past the Courtfield Arms where you can stop for lunch if you take our ¾ day option (ask for details). After Lydbrook you will pass by the YHA and the Church at Welsh Bicknor and under the old disused railway bridge. Centrally located being only an hour from Cardiff or Birmingham and only two hours from London, This means it really is the perfect location for a great day out.

For thrill seekers there’s rock climbing and abseiling at Yat rock, canoeing and white-water rafting down our grade river rapids and a cycleway to Monmouth. Explore the local area by canoe.

This is where you can try canoeing for an hour or two with friends or family. This is a man-made section and an exciting and interesting part of the River Wye. All can be accompanied by a stop in one of the riverside pubs.


The day was the hottest day of the year so far and the sky was brilliant blue with sunshine.
