How many hours can a good car driver drive? What is domestic driving limit? After hours minutes of driving you must take a break of at least minutes for rest and refreshment. Or, within any period of hours minutes , you must take at least minutes in breaks.


Drivers of such vehicles may be exempt from the EU rules on drivers ’ hours (see EU rules exemptions) but, if so, must still comply with the GB domestic rules and keep a written record of their work. See Annex for more details. Drivers must take a rest of hours before the first duty and immediately after the last duty in a working week. A rest of at least hours must be taken between working days (or spreadovers) – this can be reduced to 8. At least one period of hours off duty must be taken fortnightly.

As defined by the Drivers hour’s laws, a break must be at least minutes in length in order to qualify as a break. If you are to work between – hours, then you must accumulate minutes of break across your shift.


You can do this by taking periods of breaks at least minutes in length or a full minutes of break all at once. For PSV drivers the hours differ slightly and are between 1am and 5am. During a night work duty, you may not exceed hours of working within a hour period.

Daily driving period shall not exceed hours , with an exemption of twice a week when it can be extended to hours. Total weekly driving time may not exceed hours and the total fortnightly driving time may not exceed hours. If you only drive occasionally, it can be a real struggle to remember the details which help you to stay within the law. The main issue for occasional drivers is knowing what types of activity you should record and what records you must show to an enforcement officer. An important factor not mentioned is the maximum daily driving time for Domestic Bus Drivers being hours. Does EU Driver have to follow the driving hours? HGV GB Domestic Driving Hours. The rules of GB domestic driving hours apply to people who are driving lorries and buses in Great Britain. The regulations apply to most passenger-carrying vehicles and goods vehicles.


Some exceptions apply if you need to follow the EU rules instead. All driving you do under EU rules must be recorded on a tachograph. Domestic driving limits apply to drivers and operators of both goods and passenger carrying vehicles.

A night work is defined as a duty that takes place entirely or partly between the hours of midnight and 4am for HGV drivers.
